fees
* "Wedding ceremony only" fees are not billed hourly, rather by the ceremony, to accommodate the somewhat unpredictable length of a ceremony. The "wedding ceremony only" service includes a 30-minute prelude of music while the guests are arriving, the full ceremony including processional, register signing, and recessional music, and a few selections (approximately 3 minutes), while the guests are immediately exiting the ceremony site. Cortland Music anticipates your ceremony will last the length specified by your officiant, and start no more than 10 minutes late. If you struggle with being punctual, or otherwise anticipate you will require musician(s) longer than this amount of time, please speak with Rachel. When you send your event information to make a booking, unless you specify otherwise, you are consenting to making a Confirmed Booking, and that you have read, understand, and will comply with the policies set out in this Fees page and the FAQ page (event cancellation, interruption, delay, extension, rescheduling, outdoor performance policy, payment policy, etc). You will receive a Confirmation of Booking (e-mail). Payment is due in full within 14 days of your Confirmation of Booking (e-mail). The Confirmation of Booking e-mail constitutes a legal document, and the agreement is binding for both parties (Rachel Matthews/Cortland Music, and yourself). Please mail cheque or money order, made out to "Rachel Matthews". Mailing address provided in e-mail correspondence. No post-dated cheques. OR you can submit your payment via PayPal. Once your payment is received, you will receive an e-mail
receipt. If your payment is not received 14 days after your
Confirmation of Booking e-mail, or if it returns NSF upon
deposit (bounces), you will be notified your booking has been
downgraded to a "Tentative Booking", which means if
another party is interested in your date and time, they will
be able to make a "Confirmed Booking" upon receipt
of their payment. If you do not respond to your Tentative
Booking notification within 7 days, or if the situation is not
rectified within 7 days, your booking will be cancelled and
you will owe a $60.00 administration fee, which will be collected.
If you are booking for an event that takes place before any
payment deadline, payment is due in full seven (7) days before performance.
Exceptions to this payment policy apply only to
government and university institutions, where invoices with
separate terms will be issued after performance. All fees are double on Christmas Eve and Day, and New Year's Eve and Day. Concerts and concert-style events: fees increase by 33% for a performance of non-background music, where the music is the focus. There is a one hour minimum booking. After one (1.0) hour, you can book by the 1/2 hour. Musician(s) begin charging for services as soon as performance commences (or in the case the event does not begin with music: as soon as musician(s) are required to be present and ready to perform), then musician(s) are paid for the next hour whether musician(s) are playing continuously or not. Continuous playing is background music for a reception or dinner etc., or hiring musician(s) to perform as a feature event like a concert. Non-continuous playing is when musician(s) do not play the whole time (but we are paid the whole time) i.e. wedding ceremony, graduation ceremony, dinner with speeches. If possible, it is best to coincide any speeches with musician(s) break(s). Musician(s) require 10 minutes of paid break after every 60 minutes of continuous playing. To have a soloist perform with Rachel Matthews (solo cello), or a Cortland Music group, regular hourly fees apply to rehearsal with a professionally trained singer or instrumentalist of YOUR choice, or a professionally trained singer of our choice. Professionally trained means the musician studies or has studied music at the undergraduate level, and is a music-literate, strong performer. If the musician is of your choice, you would arrange for and, if necessary, compensate him or her separately. But if the musician is of our choice, we would make arrangements and you would compensate him or her through us. Soloist fees start at $100/hour, to be added onto regular hourly musician(s) fees. Rehearsal with soloist fee does not apply to an instrumental soloist of OUR choice. We choose musicians we work with regularly, who do not require formal ensemble rehearsal. Please inquire if your favourite instrument (i.e. trumpet, oboe, clarinet, etc.) is an option. |
